It’s been a long time since I have done a cake. When my friend asked me if I can make a special cake for his girlfriend, I could not say no. Her favorite Pokémon is Piplup and he gave me a reference picture.

Firsts things first, the cake. I used one box of cake mix and then split the mixture into two different size pans. Put them in the oven for 30 minutes. After they were done baking, I placed them in the refrigerator to chill. I waited a few hours until it was completely chill so I can start decorating the cake.

I bought one box of white fondant and used Wilton icing colors to create the shades I needed to make Piplup. The bottom large cake was covered in baby blue fondant. The smaller cake, which is Piplup’s face, was covered in white fondant.

I honestly don’t know how I did Piplup’s face. I sometimes zone out and just let my hands work. I amaze myself. It’s kinda therapeutic in a way for me.

After placing the small cake on top of the big cake, I cut yellow stars out of fondant and used white star sprinkles. The Piplup cake is complete.

The cake was a huge success. So much so, she did not want to cut the cake so we cut around it. She thought it was too cute. I’m happy that she loved it.
