Arctic Fox Iris Green

I can’t believe I left the pink hair for 3 months. I had to change it and my roots were long overdue so it was that time again.

I ran out of bleach so I thought it was a good opportunity to try out another brand. I have used the ION Brilliance developer countless times but never any of their bleach products. The ION Brilliance Bright White Powder Lightener caught my eye because I read it’s ammonia-free, Keratin infuse, Gardenia Flower Extract, Coconut, Chia Seed and Sunflower Oils. Those all sound so good for the hair but since it doesn’t have ammonia and it only lift up to 7 levels, I wondered if it would work on my super dark roots. It was also pricier then the regular powdered bleach. I decided to purchase it and give it a try. For color, I wanted to try something new and out of my comfort zone. I bought a 4oz. bottle of Arctic Fox in Iris Green.

I let my roots grow a little bit longer so I knew I would have to bleach more than once. Personally, I don’t think the faded pink looked bad but I was tired of it. I wanted another color.I applied the first session of bleach starting from the back and working my way to the front. I noticed that this bleach was developing slower on my hair. After washing it off, I had to apply bleach again: mainly in the front of my head. After applying bleach a second time and washing it off, some spots were still kinda yellow, so I had to apply bleach one last time. On the 3rd and last time, I had a little bit of bleach still on my mixing bowl, so I added shampoo to create a bleach wash and applied this mixture on the bottom part of my hair that was still pink. I managed to get rid of the pink. The ION Brilliance Bright White Powder Lighter did lift my dark roots but I felt the processing time was way too slow. I had to wait longer than usual. I didn’t want to leave the bleach for too long either since I feared I’ll experience breakage. By the 3rd bleach session, there was some breakage but nothing to panic about. There is a positive though. My hair felt great; it didn’t feel dry, nor fragile. So the bleach isn’t that bad. I still have some left for my next root touch up. After I ran out, I’ll stick to one of my favorite bleach brands or try something new if something catches my eye.

I let my hair air dry the rest of the day and decided to apply the color the next day. I woke up ready to color my hair. I cut open the bottle to get everything inside. I normally use white conditioner to dilute a hair dye but this time I mixed a little bit of Maui Moisture hair mask instead. After mixing it well, I had a feeling this would not be enough but I continued to go forward with it. Turns out, it wasn’t enough. I only managed to dye half of my hair. I was preparing myself for the walk of shame to Sally’s with half my hair colored but luckily my husband went for me and bought me an 8oz bottle. I’ve colored my hair plenty of times to know that 4oz of hair dye is not enough. I don’t know what I was thinking when I bought a 4oz bottle instead of 8oz. But anyways, I finished applying hair dye to the rest of my hair and waited 30 minutes before washing it off. I was more excited than nervous about this color. After washing it off, I let it air dry and didn’t style it until the next day. What a gorgeous vibrant color. I fell in love with it. This color pops. I would say in the past that green is a color I would not try on my hair. I took a chance and wow, it’s my new favorite hair color. This is a semi-permanent hair color so it will fade after washing it and continue to fade the more times you wash your hair. I don’t wash my hair for 5 days so I do enjoy the color a bit longer. This faded so lovely. I know many people would be disappointed on the short longevity of the hair dye but personally, I don’t mind it. Every time I would wash my hair, more color would fade.By the time I washed my hair a 4th time, it looks more like a mint color. I’m still in love with it. Overall, I love my hair color and I don’t see the green leaving anytime soon. I only meant to have it for the month of October but it’s too pretty not to have it longer. My roots are growing out so I’ll be touching those up and also on the color.

I made a YouTube video, go check it out: https://youtu.be/FG2lZNzwHNk
