PokemonGo Fest Chicago was a new experience for me. I have never flown to another state for a Pokemon event so I was so excited but a little nervous on what to expect. Unlike the Los Angeles locations, Chicago was an open park. There was no bag check, size limits and we can take our own drinks. I didn’t want to take a chance so I didn’t take any drinks. Out of all the days in Chicago, Saturday was the warmest. I had the morning session, right when the temperature was peaking. I didn’t let that bother me though.

Besides buying the morning park pass, I also splurged on a premier pass. I was excited to get my pin. Honestly, I just wanted the pin, I didn’t care much for the bathroom, lockers, or the lounge. I didn’t even go check out the merchandise store. I love the pin so much.

Was I there to catch a Mega Mewtwo? Not really. I was mainly there for the experience, the new scenery, and being surround my pokemon fanatics. It was great. I was enjoying myself.

The last 30 minutes of the session I went back to Buckingham fountain to join the mega Mewtwo raid. I was able to get both forms and the Chicago backdrop. No shundos and hundos but thats okay.

Once the morning session was over, I did stick around and walked it to the Field Museum to try and catch more excavator Pikachus but I was having issues joining the raids. I found out later on that they turned off the server to disperse the crowd. Not only was PokemonGo fest in town, there was also a friendly USA vs. Germany soccer game, Beyond Wonderland dance festival and Blues Festival. As a way to accommodate us, we were given a special research task that gave us 7 excavator Pikacus. One of those turned out to be a shiny. I was a happy gal.

While I was at the Field Museum, it started raining so hard. Out of the days I was in Chicago, I choose that day not to take my umbrella. I was annoyed with myself. It was nice though seeing people walking around. Once the rain stopped, I made my way back to Grant Park and met up with a friend to do a lucky trade.

One session was enough for me. I just enjoy the rest of the day. I had fun and I would definitely do it again.
