Star Wars Celebration Ticket Nightmare

I was thinking of calling out of work to get tickets, but I already called out last week. Since work has been slow lately, I was hoping for another slow day. I used my phone and the work tablet to join the queue, and my coworker had his phone ready too. The moment noon struck, we joined the virtual line. I made a huge mistake and clicked on the link instead of refreshing. The page still showed ‘coming soon,’ so I quickly refreshed, but that might have cost me. I’m just hoping for the best!

Thirty minutes in, my coworker was halfway through the line, but I barely had 2 bars. Two hours later, he secured his tickets while I was still only halfway there. My plan was try to score VIP. If that sold out, then a 4-day badge. Lastly, individual passes if necessary.

By the time I was a little less than halfway, VIP and 4-day badges were sold out. My friend said that Friday and Saturday were sold out, even though it hadn’t been announced yet.

Four hours and 20 minutes later, I bought my tickets. Thursday and Sunday were the only days available. Not the outcome I was expecting, but I’m just so happy I scored tickets! I managed to add merchandise, which was a risk because that could have cost me my tickets, but overall, I secured two shirts I wanted.

Overall, it was so stressful. Half my workday was spent waiting in line. I bought my tickets ten minutes before I was set to clock out. I could have asked my coworker to get them for me and Zelled him, but I don’t like using people in that way. It is what it is. Crazy though that ten minutes later, all tickets were sold out! I knew they would sell out, but not that quickly.

It’s upsetting how people took advantage of the 20-ticket purchase limit. It was a scalper’s dream come true. I’m seeing VIP tickets being sold for $3000 when they originally cost $1210, and 4-day badges going for $1000 that originally sold for $285. Apparently, after a lot of backlash, some of these listings are being taken down. It’s some sort of a win.

Despite the outcome, I’m glad to be going. For sure I’m going to dress up, but I’m not sure who as yet. Let the brainstorming begin.
