I recently cleaned up and organized my little makeup spot. Since the pandemic hit, I rarely wear makeup. I think it changed a lot of woman in that department. I think it was best to focus more on skin care and less on makeup. Not to say I got rid of all my makeup. I still got a couple of things but I kept things that I know I’ll use.
I wish I focused on skincare earlier but I’m glad I finally became serious about it. I bought a couple of things on Black Friday. Just the basics to start out. Honestly I was a little overwhelmed on the skincare market. So many things to choose from. Eventually I narrowed it down to these products.
- Renewed Hope in a Jar
- Tonymoly Moisture boost cooling marine concentrate serum
- e.l.f skin face cream spf 30
- Tonymoly Plump-Kin Retinol eye cream
I dedicate a few minutes every morning and night to apply these. The Hope in a Jar I use it only at night since I read it can make the skin sensitive and not good for sun exposure.
My sister in law got me a couple of items for Christmas which I very much love and added to my skin care routine.
- Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow PHA +BHA Pore-Tight Toner
- Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops
- Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Pink Juice Moisturizer Lotion Hydratante
- Glow Recipe Banana Soufflé Moisture Cream
- Advanced Clinicals Vitamin C Anti Aging Serum
This is the order I use the products every morning and night.
The last step is putting on a moisturizer. I have four and depending on the occasion and weather, I’ll use certain ones. The Hope in a Jar is strictly for nighttime. Both Glow Recipe moisturizers are great but not good for prolong sun exposer since they don’t have SPF. I sometimes use them for nighttime. The e.l.f skin is the only one with SPF and the one I use when I’ll be outdoors sometime. The only downside is that it makes my face shiny.
The Glow Recipe Dew Drops is also a moisturizer but I only use it before I’m about to apply foundation. It’s sort of like a primer.
It’s a process but I do think I’m seeing results in the short time I started doing this. My skin has improved because of the skin care products but also because I’m not wearing foundation as much anymore. I’m letting my skin breath. It feels nice.
I only apply foundation and concealer on special occasions or whenever I feel like it now. 10 years ago I would not walk out of the house without a face of makeup. Even on uneventful days, I would still apply makeup because you just never know if you run into someone. It happened to me a couple of times. How the times have changed. But I do think the pandemic ‘helped’ me to be comfortable to walk outside with a bare face. I tried wearing makeup underneath a mask and I don’t like it. I also realized wearing a mask with makeup isn’t good for the skin and I knew I was going to breakout. The skin needs to breath. Now and days, I do my skincare routine and just apply my lashes with a little bit of eyeliner and I’m set.
