Thrawn preventing a civil war and succeeding? Is there nothing this man can’t do? As the story unfolded, in the end it ties up to Thrawn and he happens to be at the right place at the right time.
I’ll say it again, I don’t think Thrawn is a bad guy. His way of doing things just irks people and they think he gets away with it. Thrawn is just very good at finding ways around it without getting in trouble and that just rubs certain people the wrong way.

By the end of this book, I think Thrawn got himself some friends or more like allies. Characters like Samakro and Lakinda, whose view on Thrawn was negative in the beginning but changed once everything was resolved. Despite how ridiculous or insane Thrawns’ ideas are, they work.
The book felt on a slower pace but it was enjoyable. Thrawn knows how proud Chiss members can be and to admit they were fooled into attacking each other is a disgrace. He may not be good on a political level, but military wise, he is very much so and he used that to his advantage to orchestrate a fake attack upon himself and his ship in order to unite the other Chiss warships together. Tell me that’s not badass.
I wonder how book 3 plays out. I’m little sad I’m almost done with the Ascendancy trilogy.
