The campsite was great but we had to get back on the road so we packed up and we were on our way. We said goodbye to Paha campground and headed to Travertine Hot Spring which was less than 30 minutes away but not before seeing our animal friends one last time.

We followed the dirt path to the hot spring but at one point we just started wandering off. We were close to turning back when I saw 2 women walking around. With their info, we managed to find 3 ponds. The cleanest and clearest hot spring was also the hottest. I was surprised when my husband was able to put his legs in.

I thought it was too hot but I wasn’t going to let him one-up me. The kids were over the hot springs and just wanted to leave. I asked Zelda what she thought of the Hot Springs. She didn’t like that the water was hot. Her reaction made me laugh. Overall, it’s a beautiful place. I would like to come back during winter.

At this point we weren’t sure wheather to head to Reno or Lake Tahoe. We decided on the latter and once we reached Lake Tahoe, we got a motel on the south side of the lake. I looked around for lake entries that had free parking and I found Kiva Beach. I was expecting the water to be cold since I’m so use to the Pacific Ocean. To our surprise, the water was pleasant and not salty. Why would it be since it’s a lake. I was still amazed. We stayed until the kiddos got tired. We grabbed food and headed to the motel. We got settled in and we called it a day. Day 2 was more chill but it was still fun. The next destination is one I had my eye on since last year, Lassen Volcanic National Park.
